Busyness Does Not Equal Productivity
There’s a belief so ingrained in many business owners that they don’t even notice it’s driving them: If I’m not busy, I’m not productive.
It’s the hustle culture narrative, whispering that value comes from constant motion. But busyness can be a disguise. A distraction. Even a trap.
Take the example of a residential construction business owner. He wore many hats, sales, site visits, supply runs, project management, and wore them with pride. Every hour was filled. But at the end of each week, the profit margins weren’t improving, client communication was slipping, and his team had started to second guess decisions. He was working non stop, yet the business wasn’t thriving, and neither was he.
He’d confused motion with progress. He was reactive, not strategic.
